What did you do at the career center? What did you find helpful and applicable to your current or future plans?
The career center was in itself a new experience that opened the way I view professional settling. I navigated to the Career Exploration for Business. Under the section, I interacted with a wealth of knowledge and information on the viable career options that I can venture into. Most importantly, I assessed information on qualifications that are necessary for the job market, as per the different job opportunities which were available therein. I have to admit that there were various instances in the past when I did not consider what working could be and also did not recognize how some metrics interact with one another in workplaces. However, accessing the career center cleared some of the doubts which I had and also helped me address one of the dilemmas which have lingered over me in the recent past- the role of supplementary knowledge areas. In the past, I assessed how for instance, taking extra courses would help me in my career. I observed that quite a number of openings in the job market require one to have extra qualifications. Thus, I observed that the more qualifications one has, the greater the advantage they have in the job market, as they would access more opportunities.
What In60Seconds video did you watch? How could this information be applied to your professional life?
I watched Career Planning and Stress Less in the In60Seconds video section. The videos were quite insightful as they remitted knowledge necessary in helping one interact with their workplaces in a balanced manner and therefore maintain an optimal work-life balance. Maintaining the right work-life balance is important as it increases one’s productivity, improves competencies as well as improves one’s capabilities to collaborate with others as they are open to more ideas.
