Transformational Leadership
The concept of transformational leadership in healthcare has gained significant recognition in recent years. Of particular interest is the mechanism by which transformative leaders influence their staff and organizational culture to ensure high-performing teams with a various set of competencies. When I look at people who might be good transformational leaders, I think of their impact on their organizations and the people they impact. These people rise to any challenge and bring high-performing teams together to make a difference.
At the most basic level, I believe that a truly transformative leader can inspire employees to focus on the organization’s greater good and function collectively towards a common goal (Boamah et al., 2018). I consider transformational leaders to be people who can encourage and motivate their followers to mold a successful future rooted in their vision and mission. Generally, an excellent transformational leader should be team-centric, inspiring, visionary, emotionally intelligent, and engaging (Jones et al., 2017).
