The Impact of the UN’s peacekeeping missions.
The UN plays a critical role globally in ensuring that countries find long-lasting solutions to maintaining peace, resolving conflict, and protecting democracy. According to (Erendor 2017), the organization has participated in more than seventy-one peacekeeping missions in the Middle East and the African region. Its peacekeeping missions have impacted many countries as more than 124 countries contribute to these missions by providing military troops, police, civilian aid, and human rights staff. The significant impacts of the UN peacekeeping mission were during the Cold war and the second generation. After World War 2, the Cold War happened, with most superpowers struggling to maintain dominance. However, the struggle of superpowers to maintain dominance posed a significant challenge for the UN peacekeeping mission. Despite these challenges, the missions achieved significant success, such as the ceasefire between Arabs and Jews in 1948.
