The first two years (from birth up to two years)
There are distinct stages that Piaget’s theory describes in children’s growth and development. The first stage is the sensorimotor stage, which begins from birth to two years. According to my mother, one of the major characteristics I portrayed during this stage was that I could only understand the world through movements and sensation. In addition to that, I could only understand the world by looking and listening to things surrounding me, and from this, I was able to recognize my parents’ voice first. Thus, I realized that things around me could change through my parents’ actions. Finally, according to the theory, it came to my understanding that I was able to learn about new things through environmental interaction.
