Sweden (Robust): Sweden is a leader in championing SDGs and it is ranked second to Finland in the United Nations ranking of SDGs achievement with an SDG index of 85.6. The Sweden government has embraced SDGs right from the local level with policies in place to enforce them. SDGs have been integrated into sectoral plans and a lead unit is in place to ensure there is proper coordination and implementation of SDGs across ministries. There are also established indicators for national SDG monitoring in the country. The government has also included SDGs in the national budget and mentioned them in the COVID-19 recovery plan. The Swedish government launched an international communication initiative called the first generation to help strengthen and generate engagement in communication while broadening support for Global Goals for sustainable development. There is also increased international cooperation with Sweden’s foreign policy helping enable the implementation of SDGs.
