SOCIAL PROBLEM IN UNITED STATE
The United States has been on the front line leading other nations in development. Over a long time, United has been faced the problem of addressing health care to its citizens. A social problem can be defined as a problem affecting many people and is considered a behavior that needs to be addressed. The current social problem that is impacting the United States is about health care. Research carried on in the year 2014 reported that out of the total population in the united state, 32.9 percent had no medical insurance cover. Those who had it never helped them as much as their expectations were (Moorhead, S. A., Hazlett entl (2013). As the population increases, the cost of accessing health care increases, leading to the emergence of that social problem. Inflated cost in health care makes it hard for citizens to access the care comfortably.
Physicians in the United state says that nearly 59 percent of the people have more difficulties in paying the fee for the care and 31 percent claims that they get the medical care attention late and are poor due to late payment(Goodman, A. C., & Stano, M. (2016). The ideological perspective of society is that for one to access medical care has to pay for it. As far as medical care is made public, it’s provided through the private sector makes health care a problem in the united state of America.
The causes of health care to be considered as a social problem in the united state are facilitated by the following:
· The cost of the emerging technology and medicines prescribed by the doctor. This is where the new technology, as applied in the medical field, costs much compared to the one used before, so as a result, clients are forced to pay more, leading to the rising cost of medical care. Some of the researchers have said, “that the availability of more expensive, state-of-the-art medical technologies and drugs fuels health care spending for development costs and because they generate demand for more intense, costly services even if they are not necessarily cost-effective.” This makes the United state to spend more of its capital in medical health care sectors as well as raising taxes to the ability to cater for expenses required
· A high number of citizens suffer from chronic diseases at a late age. Research shows that about 32 percent suffers from chronic diseases in the last two years (Alderwick, H., & Adler, N. (2019). This makes the cost of medical care high since, at this time, there is frequent hospitalization of the elderly and more funds required making the cost of accessing health care be high.
Consequences of raising the expenses of acquiring health care include the following:
· People who are not employed or have a healthy medical insurance cover shall suffer since they can’t be in a position to raise funds required for them to get quality treatment. For those with medical insurance, premiums are introduced to cater to the healthcare sector’s high bills, making them fail terribly. High death rates are encountered because most people will not afford quality health care; hence they die.
