Rehabilitative Programs
There is a high probability of ex-gang members going back to their former gangs or joining alternative gangs. Circumstances like this mostly happen when they are rejected from society or in situations where they are unable to find alternative activities. Homeboys Industries, based in Los Angeles, US, is an example of such a program that has successfully rehabilitated and facilitated the smooth re-entry of these members into society. The program has a Christian background; it is based on the belief that ex-gang members, primarily convicts, are more mature and ready to change their lifestyle choices. It provides the ex-convicts temporary jobs and places to stay and guide them to gradually reacclimatize and join their former societies.
