Due to the rise of technology applications and social media, many older adults have been felt out, especially those still working. Being behind has affected many things, especially production areas in companies. Many older people are not conversant with technology, and operating technologically advanced devices is a big challenge. In this case, I will create a mentoring program that can be used by older employees at work and home. Different mentoring programs can be used for this purpose; however, I will use a traditional one-on-one mentoring program (LoBuono et al.,2019). This is because this form of mentoring allows one to understand mentees, and if they have challenges, they will be easy to solve.
The design that I will use in my mentoring program is one-on-one mentoring programs, and the mentee should suggest their encounter with technological devices and how these devices have affected their work. The first stage of the design is the analysis, and it as I have started early, it will be determining challenges encountered by old employees on technology. From this stage will analyze the advantages of using technological devices at work. In addition to that, the program’s design will include the teaching strategies, material used during mentoring, the necessary steps to be followed by employees on learning the use of technology. Finally, the design will include the evaluation tools that will help determine the employees’ progress on technology.
My justification for the program is that older employees face challenges operating technological devices and even managing social media platforms. The current world has no space for individuals who are not technologically versed, and older employees fall into this category. Therefore, the program is needed since it will instill older employees with technological skills that will help them operate technological devices effectively. As stated, early older employees will be the ones who will benefit from the program since young employees are well versed with the application of technology. For any mentoring program to be successful, some financial costs will be needed to facilitate different objectives during learning.
