This theory suggests that people can be characterised in terms of their resemblance to each of the six personality types referred to as the modal-personal-orientations: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising and Conventional (RIASEC). For example, Realistic types search for realistic environments; Social types search for social environments, and so forth. Furthermore, while Holland suggests that people can be categorised as one of six types, he also argues that a six-category scheme built on the assumption that there are only six kinds of people in the world is unacceptable on the strength of common sense alone. Four basic theoretical constructs
