Historical Reasons for Meng Wanzhou Incident
From time to time, discrimination by the Canadian government against non-citizens is a retarding issue. For instance, it is unclear why the United States government requested Meng’s extradition without evidence. The Vancouver judge also failed to grant her bail by her husband. Cathy Meng was treated like a criminal without trial and kept under house arrest even after release (Hsiung, 2020). Historically, the relationship between Canada and China has existed for quite a long time. Both countries have channeled bilateral and multilateral issues of global importance and created awareness of the world’s most critical issues today. A picture of two desperate counties trying to reach domestic as well as foreign imperatives is evident.
However, their target to build each other has been affected by similar challenges and uncertainties that other evolving countries face economy-wise (Romaniuk, 2020). However, the excellent relationship deteriorated after the arrest of Mega Wanzohou. After the arrest of Meng, the Chinese authority responded to the Canadian government. They argued that she had not broken the law and ordered her immediate release adding that the independent judiciary of Canada should swiftly decide on the allegations made against their citizen without political compromise, involvement, or interference. Grave consequences were amongst the summons used against the United States if they thought of detaining Meng further.
