Background Response Nudging Techniques
This nudging intervention technique aims to encourage specific conduct from an individual while minimizing the possibility of disturbing the individual from their daily routine. The technique can be implemented by use of a questionnaire format whereby the website asks the user question when they access the website. Some of the questions include clarifying whether the user is a human being or a robot (Schneider et al., 2019). After the clarification questions, the website can provide the website user with the background information and then inquire about the information the user is searching for. Based on the website response the website can provide the user with different sources which contain the required information. Under each source presented to the website user, there should be accompanied with nudging content such as warning alerts on the validity of the information and the reliability of the source of information (Schneider et al., 2019). This grants the website user power to decide which information to access and the source to use to access the information. EUNOMIA website can adapt this nudging technique to help boost the user’s response and help curb and control the spread of misleading information. Through this technique, the website can narrow down the user’s search and increase the chances of them accessing verified and reliable sources of information (Schneider et al., 2019).
