APIL’s Infrastructure, Information Technology (IT), and management systems
The company currently operates as an international organization that provides services and products to a diverse customer base (Soomro and Shah, 2019). It has a well-established communication system that supports collaboration and fosters a culture of open communication among employees. This contributes to changes in employees’ habits and promotes development in the organizational culture.
However, the lack of a suitable IT infrastructure and IT staff in some underdeveloped or developing countries presents a significant problem in ensuring inclusion and diversity in its organizational culture. The management and maintenance of the IT infrastructure is a major component in lowering costs for its services and products (Soomro and Shah, 2019). The company has about 15 products distributed in more than 50 nations that are still underdeveloped. This presents complex challenges that most organization like APIL fails to acknowledge.
Nonetheless, APIL is not like any other international organization. It has created an internet-based enterprise that takes advantage of innovation and technology advancement to establish a novel way to overcome this challenge (Soomro and Shah, 2019). However, the company is technology-oriented in that it uses mobile computing technology to connect its remote sites to its central server in Singapore and develop real-time access for its customers regardless of the geographical location. For instance, the mobile computing technology integrated into its IT infrastructure allows the company’s enterprise to access vital information during critical operations such as procurement, sales, risk assessment, and logistic processes.
It also has a well-established reward system for its employees that encourages them to share their knowledge and promote a knowledge culture. For example, it has an annual incentive program that encourages managers to build long-term wealth with shareholders by doing the following (Soomro and Shah, 2019):
- Increasing the efficiency of its resources
- Assisting with strategic objectives
- Encouraging teamwork
- Recognizing and rewarding great performance
- Retaining and attracting talent
