Introduction
Change is an essential aspect of people’s lives. Organizations undergo various changes during their lifecycles to remain afloat. Similarly, communities change to meet their members’ social, economic, political, and health needs. In all these cases, change is initiated by a person or a group of people referred to as change agents. This essay focuses on five professional athletes who want to increase their community’s sport participation. Creating social change requires adopting different concepts, principles, and strategies derived from various fields such as business management. The issues related to goal setting are creating a vision, using goal setting’s five principles, SMART model, and OITT framework. The athletes will also have to choose public participation and community organizing strategies. As change agents, they also have to maintain stability, anticipate and plan for conflicts, and utilize change agent tools.
